NEXCO-West USA, Inc., a Delaware corporation headquartered in Vienna, Virginia, is seeking a Vice President to lead technical operations, business development, and strategic management of the company's bridge inspection and pavement condition assessment services. NEXCO-West USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of West Nippon Expressway Company Ltd. (NEXCO-West), a major highway infrastructure company based in Osaka, Japan. The company provides nondestructive structural condition assessment services using proprietary infrared thermography and high-definition digital imaging technologies across the United States. Responsibilities include:
- Marketing and promoting NEXCO-West's proprietary bridge condition and pavement condition assessment technologies to federal, state, and local transportation agencies and private sector clients
- Managing relationships with existing clients and establishing new business contacts through trade shows, conferences, and direct outreach
- Supervising employees and contractors to ensure quality of technical work and adapting NEXCO-West's proprietary technology to U.S. market requirements
- Overseeing the preparation and review of technical reports, marketing materials, white papers, and publications
- Technical decision-making in the design of structural rehabilitation projects
- Evaluating the condition of existing bridge structures using proprietary technology and proposing maintenance options to bridge owners
- Developing and maintaining proprietary software and AI-based applications to improve productivity, particularly for pavement condition assessment; training staff in the effective use of AI tools
- Financial management including budgeting, authorizing spending, and reviewing financial statements
- Interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising technical staff performing bridge inspection, pavement condition assessment, and related services using the company's proprietary technologies; assigning and reviewing work, conducting performance evaluations, and providing technical guidance to employees
- Developing and improving standard safety procedures for on-site bridge inspection work
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in highway structural engineering and highway pavement engineering
- Understanding of the basic workflow in concrete bridge assessment technology using infrared thermography and high-definition imaging and pavement condition assessment methodologies
- Minimum 5 years of prior experience with bridge condition assessment software, including for bridge design, bridge inspection, rehabilitation, and technology development with NEXCO USA or an affiliated company
